"Toyota Citizen's Museum", a facility related to Soetsu (Muneyoshi) Yanagi, where you can appreciate the beauty of folk art

"Toyota Citizen's Museum" is located in a corner of Hiradobashi Park, which is rich in nature, on the banks of the Yahagi River overlooking Mt. Sanage. The museum was opened in 1983 when part of the Japan Folk Crafts Museum (Komaba, Tokyo), which was associated with Muneyoshi Yanagi, known as the "Father of the Mingei Movement," was renovated.

The folk crafts related to Mr. Shizuo Honda, who sympathized with the "folk art movement" advocated by Soetsu Yanagi and contributed to the spread of folk art, including the establishment of the Toyota Municipal Museum, and the study of the old Sanage kiln, are on display.

Coffee is also available at the Third Folk Art Gallery for 100 yen, so we recommend enjoying folk art while relaxing with a cup of coffee.
