Spectacular specimen of "Morpho butterfly"!

Morpho butterflies emit various beautiful sparkles depending on the angle of light. The softly shining blue contrast is impressive. If you look at it from all directions, you can see that it has various expressions.

We found an angle that looks brown like this!

The morpho butterfly itself is actually a brownish color, and depending on the light, it looks like it's shining blue. What a mysterious butterfly.

A must-see building for architects and history buffs!

And the Nawa Insect Museum is more than just insects.

The photo shows the huge round pillar that supports the second floor of the building. This is Hinoki wood used to build Toshodaiji Temple in Nara.

During the dismantling and repair of the main hall and the auditorium, old materials damaged by termites were received, repaired, and reused. For more than 1300 years, it has been working hard as a pillar.

Also proud of its history is the Memorial Insect Museum on the north side of the museum.

This specimen repository was completed in 1907 and has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Gifu City. Basically, it is not open to the public, but if Director Nawa is present, he will be able to show you the inside of it.

If you are interested, please make a reservation before visiting.
