[Nagoya Station] Great Scenery both Day and Night! Sky Promenade in Midland Square

[Nagoya Station] Great Scenery both Day and Night! Sky Promenade in Midland Square

The outdoor observatory "Sky Promenade" is located on the 44th to 46th floors of the Midland Square office building in front of Nagoya Station. Almost 360 degrees glassed, open air without a roof. You can feel the comfortable breeze while being in the center of the city. During the day you can enjoy a spectacular view, and at night you can enjoy a fantastic night view, each with a different expression.

This time, we will thoroughly report on the charm of the observatory "Sky Promenade", which is about 220 meters above the ground and boasts the highest height in the Tokai area.

Access to Sky Promenade

Midland Square

Midland Square, a landmark in front of Nagoya Station, consists of an office building and a commercial building.

Midland Square

The entrance to the Sky Promenade is located on the 42nd floor of the office building in Midland Square.

Take the shuttle elevator from the 1st floor of the office building to the 42nd floor.

It is directly connected to the underground mall of Nagoya Station, and access from the train is also good!

It is also very convenient from the underground parking lot (paid) of "Midland Square".

The shuttle elevator is a rare two-story building. If you get on from 1F, you will reach 42F, and if you get on from B1F, you will reach 41F.

Take the escalator from the 41st floor to the 42nd floor and you will find the entrance to the Sky Promenade.

Admission Ticket

This is the entrance of the "Sky Promenade" in 42nd floor. The Italian restaurant "Enoteca Pinchiorri" and the French restaurant "Auberge de L'Ile Nagoya" are also nearby.

There is an automatic ticket vending machine in front of the entrance. There are two types of tickets: a “regular ticket” that allows one-time entry, and a “one-day ticket” that allows entry as many times as you like on the same day.

There is also an advance ticket that can be used at any time, and it is sure to be appreciated as a gift! Elementary school students are also free on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and summer vacation, so it is recommended for going out with kids!

Go through the entrance and go up to the 46th floor where there is an observatory. There is an elevator, for the wheelchairs and strollers .

Finally arrived! From the 44th floor to the 46th floor, the open space spreads out.

The theme of the wall display is "World Heritage". The theme is changed irregularly and exhibited. The lights on the wall on the right side of the photo also turn on at night, making the observation space even more romantic.

In the spacious hall, events such as "Hoshizora no Cinema," where you can enjoy movies under the starry sky, are held irregularly. In addition, every year, the event "Watch the first sunrise of the year from Midland Square" is open from 5:30 in the early morning on New Year's Day, and is so popular that people line up even before it opens. (*Cancelled in 2022 due to maintenance work.)

Enjoy both Day and Night!

The section on the JR Central Towers side is the most popular photo spot. In the past "Sky Promenade Instagram Photo Contest", it seems that most of the photos were taken during the day and at night including this window frame. It is truly a superb view!

Even if the season, weather, and time are different, you can dynamically see completely different scenery in the same place. The view from such a high place is hard to find anywhere else!

From the 46th floor to the 45th floor, there is a corridor with a gentle slope that goes around 360 degrees, so you can take a walk while looking out over the scenery. It is truly a “walk in the sky”. From 19:00, a mist that changes in various colors every 30 minutes is sprayed, making the night view even more magical.

[Mist spray time]
19:00, 19:30, 20:00, 20:30, 21:00, 21:30 [about 5 minutes each]
*The performance is currently suspended to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infection. (As of December 2021)

See what you can find!

There is also a guide display such as buildings that can be seen in each direction of north, south, east and west. To the north is "Twin Arch 138" in Kiso Sansen Park, and to the east is Higashiyama Zoo's "Higashiyama Sky Tower".

It is also recommended as a place for children to study. Seeing mountains, roads, and railroad tracks with your own eyes may be a catalyst for your interest in geography.

Unfortunately, it was a little cloudy that day, but you can see the mountains in the distance. It is also interesting to be able to feel the differences in the heights of the various mountains that can be seen, such as Mt. Ontake, Mt. Kinka, and Mt. Ibuki.

Nagoya Castle stands out among the many buildings of Nagoya. Among the scenery you can see, you can easily find the blue-green roof of Nagoya Castle with copper plate roofing!

There are only a few other opportunities a year, but it seems that the night view of Nagoya and the fireworks over the Nagoya Port in the distance are also a nice view. It is a secret spot for watching fireworks that is known only to those in the know.

If you look toward Sakae on Hirokoji Dori, can you find a spherical building to the south?

This is "Nagoya City Science Museum" in Fushimi. It is also easy to find due to its unusual shape.

If you look down towards Sasajima, which is full of railroad tracks, you can sometimes see trains and bullet trains passing by. Trains seen from a high place should be fresh even for railway enthusiasts!

You can also look down on the heliport of the neighboring Dai Nagoya Building.

There are also binoculars on the 44th floor where you can experience the cityscape more realistically (for a fee). I want to find my own house too!

An object of the whole "Midland Square". There is a "Sky Promenade" at the highest point.

There is also a vending machine where you can take a break.

"CARVINO"

"The Sky Promenade, which used to attract many senior visitors, now attracts many younger visitors as they can take pictures that cannot be taken anywhere else. The time of day, when the sky changes color from dusk to night, is particularly fantastic and highly recommended. Since the sky is easily affected by weather and atmospheric conditions, we are happy to show you the best time to see the sky, when you can see clearly into the distance. It's a large area, so it's less dense, and since it's semi-outdoor, we'd love for you to use it as a excursions during COVID-19 pandemic." Mr. Shimazu and Mr. Hayashi said.

The "Sky Promenade" can be enjoyed by everyone from small children to seniors. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. For a romantic date with your lover. A casual stroll after shopping. Why don't you spend a quiet time looking at the scenery?
