[Shizuoka] I Went to Oigawa Railway "DAY OUT WITH THOMAS 2022"

I went to the official event "DAY OUT WITH THOMAS 2022" of Thomas the Tank Engine on Oigawa Railway!

In addition to a ride on Thomas the Tank Engine, this event is a must for Thomas lovers, including a "Thomas Fair" where you can meet Thomas the Tank Engine Nakamachi up close and personal, and a tour of the Thomas the Tank Engine maintenance shop (*The event will end in summer 2022).

*Information is current at the time of the interview.
Please check the latest information of each facility and store.

Access from the Nagoya area

The Thomas the Tank Engine operates between "Shin-Kanaya Station" and "Sengou Station" on the Oigawa Railway. This time, we purchased tickets in advance for the train departing from Sengou Station.

Aim for "Senzu Station" on the following route.

Shinkanaya Station was also all about Thomas! Thomas goods were sold at the store.

From Shinkanaya Station, transfer to the "EL Kawaneji" train! The retro space is irresistible.

After about an hour, we arrived at "Sento Station!

Enjoy the "Thomas Fair" at Sento Station!

Thomas Fair" is held at Sento Station, where you can meet Thomas-go Nakamachi up close and personal. (Dates: Thomas the Tank Engine operating days)

Even if you do not ride the Thomas train, you can enter by purchasing a ticket & Sento Station admission ticket!

【Admission fee】
Elementary school students and older: ¥500

* If you are coming by car, you will need an admission ticket for Senzu Station separately.

Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends gather together!

The Percy, Hiro, James, and Thomas will only be together in a line for about one hour from the time the Thomas arrives at Senzu Station until it departs. If you are coming by your own car, please check the time in advance.

I never thought I would be able to see the Thomas I loved as a child so close!

Get in the driver's seat of Percy and Hiro!

What a great way to get into the driver's seat of Percy and Hiro.

You can also chat with Percy and Hiro by pressing the button!

Get on the Winston!

Winston, the rail inspection car that Sir Topham Hatt rides in Thomas' story. Winston at Senzu Station goes forward when you pedal. You will feel like Sir Topham Hatt as you set off on your journey!

Up to 3 people can ride at once. (¥300 once)

Full of attractions that children can enjoy!

In addition, there are plenty of attractions that children can enjoy, such as a stamp rally and a Thomas mini SL!

This time we arrived about an hour before the departure of the Thomas, but it was quite a rush, so if you want to fully enjoy the "Thomas Fair", we recommend arriving a little earlier.

Oigawa Railway original
Get Thomas goods!

"Thomas Shop & Cafe" is located on the second floor of Senzu Station.

A variety of Oigawa Railway original Thomas goods are available. Oigawa Railway limited edition goods are marked with a red logo! There are so many original goods that you will have a hard time deciding which one to buy.

Original goods can also be purchased at "Plaza Loco" at Shin-Kanaya Station.

Tapioca (boba) drinks and shaved ice can be taken out at the cafe. Drinks are of course designed of Thomas!

Take the Thomas the Tank Engine to Shin-Kanaya Station

Finally! ! It's time to board the Thomas.

You can't help but be excited by the decorations inside the train featuring Thomas and his friends. Thomas' voice announces the train!

Take a leisurely train trip while enjoying the Thomas lunch box you got at Senzu Station.

You will be healed by the rich nature along the line. I also met "Bus Bertie" who runs parallel roads in places!

There is also a beautiful tea plantation like Shizuoka!

There was also in-car sales. Don't miss out on the limited-edition goods sold inside the train!

I arrived at Shin-Kanaya station in about 1 hour and 20 minutes!

Tour of the maintenance factory for the Thomas the Tank Engine

Exit the ticket gate and go to the "Thomas the Tank Engine Maintenance Factory Tour" being held at Shin-Kanaya Station!

You can see the preparatory work before departure of the Thomas, and the state after arrival after returning from a day's work.

I also met Bertie on the bus who came back to Shin-Kanaya Station!

Thomas was just stopping at the inspection bridge of the maintenance shop.

During some hours before departure and after arrival, you can take a commemorative photo right next to Thomas like this.

I never thought I would see Thomas so up close and personal!

The pamphlet distributed at the entrance of the maintenance shop introduces the name of each part of the Thomas, so it would be interesting to compare them while visiting.

In the back of the maintenance shop, you can meet "Flynn", the special fire-engine

Flynn can be seen at any time, but Thomas the Train and Bertie can be seen at different times, so please check the times in advance. (*Re-entry is possible only on the same day upon presentation of the admission ticket.)

Let's get souvenirs at "Plaza Loco"!

Finally, go to "Plaza Loco" opposite Shin-Kanaya Station!

During the DAY OUT WITH THOMAS period, the store is lined with Thomas the Tank Engine goods limited to Oigawa Railway. In the back of the hall, old locomotives and railway-related goods are on display.

You can also make a commemorative medal of Thomas!

This time, we introduced the Oigawa Railway "DAY OUT WITH THOMAS 2022".

Although the 2022 summer event has ended, Oigawa Railway has so far held "Day Out with THOMAS" events outside of summer, such as at Christmas and at the end of the year, so be sure to check them out!
