"midaginza" opened in January 2019 in the Mida area, where the sea breeze from Ise Bay is pleasant in the northern part of Suzuka City. It is a unique spot where a container-type flower shop, a general store, and a limited-time eating and drinking space are set up on the premises.
The owner is Nanami Mitsuyasu, owner of the flower shop "Adii ezu". She used to have a small shop near Suzuka City Hall, but as a new development, we invited other shops to open "midaginza".
Ms. Mitsuyasu:“I found a nice place by the sea. I thought that having a variety of stores would make it more enjoyable for visitors.
Currently, the flower shop “Adii ezu” and the general store “CARAVÅN” are open as permanent stores. For a limited time only, sweets shops, coffee shops, and other food and drink establishments are also open."
Flower shop "Adii ezu" where you can meet "favorite flower"
On the left hand side of "midaginza" is a flower shop "Adii ezu" by Ms. Mitsuyasu. The interior of the store is kept to a chic tone, and while each one stands out individually, it is a space where you can feel a sense of unity.
Flowers that are counted in the genre of "native flowers" such as banksia, leucadendron, and eucalyptus also have a strong presence.
The store is lined with unique flowers selected by Ms. Mitsuyasu, who says, "I have a collection of things that I like with my senses."
Ms. Mitsuyasu: "Flower shops may be difficult for people who don't have a specific purpose, but I would like to be a shop where you can easily visit and choose from one."
If there are flowers that customers like, they want them to feel free to pick them up.
In order to allow customers to take their time and look around the store, it is said that we do not particularly call out to them, but we do receive inquiries from customers who do not know what kind of flowers to choose.
Ms. Mitsuyasu:“I explained the characteristics of each flower such as how long it lasts and how many days it changes, and suggested a flower that would be easy to decorate according to the vase you have. And sometimes I ask, 'How do you like this flower?'"
They also accept orders for SWAG, a wall decoration that bundles seasonal flowers and branches, and wedding bouquets. SWAG and bouquets colored with the world view of "Adii ezu" will highlight the taste of the person you choose.
Ms. Mitsuyasu visits the flower market twice a week to look at the seasonal flowers. We don't have a lot of one type of flower, so the lineup will change each time.
Ms. Mitsuyasu: "I hope that you will enjoy seeing new flowers every time you visit."
There are also “problems” unique to a store that only sells items that you like.
Ms. Mitsuyasu: "When I meet a flower that I really like, I want it to stay here forever. Sometimes I feel a little lonely when they are all sold out (laughs)."
I want to visit from time to time and meet my favorite flowers.
CARAVÅN, a variety store where you can find items that bring fresh sensations into your daily life
Across from "Adii ezu" is the general store "CARAVÅN". In response to Ms. Mitsuyasu's desire to make "midaginza" a place where fashionable shops can be found, they have set up a store in this location since October 2019.
Inside the store, which is bathed in bright sunlight, you will find tableware, stationery, and other unique daily necessities that the owner, Miho Aoi, found while visiting overseas countries.
Ms. Aoi:"We have a wide range of items regardless of genre. Even items that are used on a daily basis in the country may look very fresh to me. I would like to open a store where you can find such miscellaneous goods."
What caught my eye were the Taiwanese baskets and pendant light umbrellas that hung over the store. The simple design has an Asian flavor and evokes a sense of nostalgia.
Ms. Aoi:"When I visit a shop overseas, I often choose items that have been used since ancient times, such as earthenware pots, teacups, and vases, as well as daily necessities that have the scent of that country."
Customers who share Aoi's sensibility often experience a sense of excitement as soon as they step into the store.
The black one-piece and white shirt hanging on the wall are CARAVÅN original clothes. Ms. Aoi herself makes it under the brand name "moto". The material is a combination of cotton and linen, and the motif is based on folk costumes, making it comfortable to wear.
Mr. Aoi: "I've always liked making things. I'd like to make original things that suit my shop."
They also accept orders for clothes, bags, aprons, etc. It is said that she receives requests to make men's clothes.
Ms. Aoi also made the “moto” brand pierced earrings with a Chinese button. Every corner of the store is wrapped in a unique view of the world.
Ms. Aoi: "I hope that you will find things that you have never seen before and enjoy a fresh feeling."
In addition to these two stores, "midaginza" also has a space where restaurants such as Western confectionery shops, coffee shops, and Japanese confectionery shops open for a limited time. You can meet new pleasures every time you visit. "YORU GINZA" is also held once a month on Saturday evenings. Please check the schedule on the "Adii ezu" website.
Mida Park facing Ise Bay is also across the street. Why don't you visit along with a walk while looking at the sea?
