[Life in Sweden] The Base for Shopping while Staying in Stockholm! "Åhlens Stockholm City"

A famous shopping building that serves as a base for sightseeing and shopping in Stockholm. This is Åhlens City Stockholm. We call it Åhlens.

It is close to the station and is a recommended spot for solo travelers and beginners to Sweden to do shopping. Inside there are many Scandinavian design stores, apparel stores, cosmetics stores, supermarkets, and other Scandinavian-inspired stores, and even the well-known "that store"  in Japan.

And it should be noted that there are many wonderful shops, plus that access is very good! 5-10 minutes walk from Stockholm central station. You can walk straight out of the station and walk above ground, or go through the underground and go above ground.

This is the exit leading to the metro at Stockholm Central Station. Coming up from here, Åhlens is already in front of you. And in front of Åhlens, there is also H&M HOME, which does not have a physical store in Japan.

"H & M HOME" where you can purchase various items such as interior and tableware at affordable price

There is no physical store in Japan, but you can purchase online. The number of items is different, and I would like you to stop by H&M HOME to see the many cute affordable goods that you can actually get in your hands.

Well, Åhlens will focus on four fields, and will include shops unique to Sweden: fashion (Mode), beauty (Skönhet), homeware (Hem), and media (Media).

On the 1st floor there is a cafe and a depacos shop with stores that are familiar even in Japan, on the 1st basement floor there is a vast floor with cosmetics, hair care, aroma candles and relaxing goods, and on the 2nd basement floor there is a supermarket.

This supermarket is large, and offers everything from fresh produce to Swedish souvenirs, sweet buns that you can eat while shopping around town. There are also drinks, fruits, and a food buffet that you can pack and take as a lunch. You will find all the necessary household items for your stay in the apartment such as airbnb.

Marimekko is on the 2nd floor, and there are products that are not available in Japan, and sales are held regularly, so if you are a Marimekko fan, please go there. Cheaper than at the airport store.

If you see a sign that says REA (rare), it means it's on sale, so don't miss the REA corner!

And on the same floor as this Marimekko, there is also the famous Moomin shop at Helsinki Airport in Finland, and the Finnish tableware brand iittala, which is also popular in Japan.

There are other lamp shops with stylish Scandinavian style modern lamps, such as CO Bankeryd and Markslöjd SWEDEN from Småland, Sweden, and other popular Swedish lamp brands.

The lamp shop is sparkling and it's fun just to look at it!
Paper lampshades are a staple and very popular in Sweden.

The table in front is Watt & Veke, which is also Sweden's first lighting fixture brand.

Another kitchen area floor is on the 3rd floor. This is a brand called house doctor. The Danish brand next door is known worldwide for its innovative design of unique lamps and homewares.

This is MATEUS, whose trademark is pop cute tableware.

The brand combines traditional Portuguese craftsmanship with Swedish design and contemporary trends.

The tableware with a bubble motif is cute.

Here is also the Danish interior brand HAY, whose interior design is very eye-catching. HAY can also be purchased from Japan.

The twisty dull-colored candles are cute, aren't they?

Well, here at Åhlens there are more wonderful Swedish and Scandinavian brands than I could introduce, but lastly, I would like to introduce you to the "unexpected store" that is here.

It's that store here and there in Japan. Do you remember the scenery in front of the cash register?

Let's go outside the store for a moment.

Here! That's right, Åhlens has MUJI products. In Sweden, it is popularly called MUJI. What's more, it's a fairly large store, with everything from familiar Japanese stationery to clothes and interiors, making you feel like you're in Japan.

The cash register looks like this. It's the same as in Japan!

There is also a popular pre-packed curry in Japan. It's perfect for times when you want to eat a little Japanese taste while traveling.

By the way, this MUJI also has many Swedish local products that are not available in Japan. There are also Swedish drinks, sweets, tea, etc. that can only be obtained here at MUJI in Stockholm, so be sure to check them out.

Åhlens Stockholm City is a recommended shopping building for supermarkets, popular Scandinavian Swedish brands, and the location is close to the station, so you can enjoy it even if you are traveling alone. It is also recommended as a place to buy souvenirs unique to Sweden just before going back to Japan.
