Gifu World Rose Garden, one of the world's largest rose gardens in Kani City, Gifu Prefecture.

Gifu World Rose Garden (formerly Flower Festa Memorial Park) is one of the world's largest theme parks where visitors can appreciate roses and seasonal flowers. Within the approximately 800,000 square meter park grounds, there is the "Flower Tower," which offers a panoramic view of the park from a height of 45 meters above the ground, the "Flower Earth Museum," which holds garden shows using a wide variety of plants, and one of the largest playground complex equipments in Gifu Prefecture.

So this time, we actually went to see the Nemophila garden because it was in full bloom. We will introduce you to the charm of the park.

What kind of place is Gifu World Rose Garden?

Welcome garden

The first spot after arriving at the "World Rose Garden" is the "Welcome Garden".

The day we visited was still before the roses were in bloom, so it was a bit sad, but it is the largest rose paysage garden in the world, with approximately 5,500 roses of 18 varieties planted here. The vast slope that gently rises from the front to the back of the garden has roses blooming as far as the eye can see, making it a great photo spot.

*Rose paysage means “a rose that creates a landscape” in French.

When the roses are in full bloom, you will be welcomed by this beautiful appearance.

"Canary Bird" heralds spring roses

The best time to see the roses is from May, but we decided to go to the "Water and Rose Garden" because we could see the first roses to bloom in the garden. Based on the information from the staff, we will look for the only rose in the park that is blooming.

We found it~~!

This is an early blooming rose, "Canary Bird". They start blooming in mid-April every year. As the name suggests, it produces many lovely flowers that look like a flock of canaries. The flowers blooming in a row on the branches are magnificent.

Flower Earth Museum (Large Greenhouse) where you can enjoy flowers and greenery all year round

We have come to the Flower Earth Museum (Large Greenhouse). Here, a wide variety of plants are displayed, and visitors can enjoy flowers and greenery throughout the year.

The spring garden show "Flower Farm" is currently being held from April 24th to June 13th.

Inside the greenhouse, pleasant music plays along with the exhibits. Surrounded by flowers, you will feel very happy as you stroll around the greenhouse, enjoying the sound.

Please pay attention to each flower.

You can see the flowers blooming all over the park.    "Flower Tower"

Next, we headed to the 45m-high observation tower "Flower Tower", which was inspired by "a ship floating in a sea of flowers".

This elevator will take you to the rooftop deck.

From the glass-enclosed observation room and rooftop deck, you can see the garden colored with seasonal flowers and greenery, as well as Mt. Norikura and Mt. Ena on clear days.

During the spring and fall rose season, the restaurant is also open. Visitors can enjoy a special menu featuring edible flowers that can only be found here, while floating in the "sea of flowers.

Large flower bed in the east "Nemophila Garden"

I came to this destination "Nemophila Garden"!

It's such a superb view that you can't help but scream with joy! It's like the sea dyed blue all around.

Approximately 80,000 nemophila plants are planted in a 3,000 m2 flowerbed. It is said that 20,000 plants are planted in addition to the Nemophila Garden. It's so beautiful that we lose track of time looking at it.

The refreshing blue of nemophila and the color of the sky overlap to create a beautiful blue gradation that is indescribable. We were completely fascinated by the superb view beyond our imagination.

In the park, there is also a collaboration with tulips along with nemophila. It's so cute!

There is a triangular flower bed called "Nemophila Road" along the garden path leading to "Nemophila Garden". Please check it out too.

"Tulip" in full bloom

The tulips were also at their peak. They are planted all over the park, and you can feel the arrival of spring as you walk around.

It is said that the petals of the tulip represent the crown, the pointed leaves represent the sword, and the bulb represents property, and it is said that tulips came to be treated as a symbol of women who are loved by men. Each color has a different flower language, so we recommend trying to find the meaning you like.

Let's get on the road train "Poppo"!

The road train "Poppo" that runs through the park is recommended for people with children, those who want a quick tour of the park, and those who are tired of walking. You can go around the park in about 20 minutes, and the scenery you can see from the train window is also exceptional.

*Fee: 300 yen per ride for junior high school students and above (Free for elementary school students and younger. Children under elementary school age must ride with a guardian.)
*Required time: about 20 minutes

When we actually got on the train, we found that the wind coming in through the windows was pleasant, and the flowers and greenery were beautiful, and we really enjoyed ourself.

Enjoy Gourmet Food!

When you're hungry, let's go to the restaurant "The Center Court" which overlooks the "Welcome Garden".

Here, in addition to the lunch menu, you can enjoy aromatic coffee and tea perfect for café time, and the "Adult Rose Parfait," a commemorative plate decoration.

Coarsely ground bolognese

Vongole bianco

Adult rose parfait (for 2 people)

Come on! This is the popular "Adult Rose Parfait". It's very filling, so we recommend sharing it with a group.

Terrace seats are a must when the roses are in bloom! You can spend an elegant time while watching the world's largest "Rose Paysage Garden".

In addition to this, there is also "Grouse Dining", which has a wide variety of menus that are particular about the ingredients produced in Gifu Prefecture, so please check it out.

Very popular with children!
"Large complex play equipment" & "Fluffy dome"

There is also a place for children to run and play freely in the park! The renewed large-scale complex play equipment is the largest in Gifu Prefecture!

This is a full-scale playground with a width and depth of over 30 meters and a maximum height of over 10 meters. Centered on the central tower, there are 40 different play items, including seven sliders of varying heights and sliding comfort, rock climbs, and more, to arouse children's curiosity and challenge.

It is easy to see from all directions, so parents can watch over their children with peace of mind. There is also a rest area near the playground equipment.

"Fluffy dome" is also very popular! This is a playground equipment that bounces like a trampoline on a dome-shaped curtain that is inflated with air. It's like jumping on clouds.
