Gero Onsen has a history of over 1,000 years and is known as one of Japan's top three hot springs. It is a hot spring area that is easily accessible from Nagoya and is famous as a hot spring for beauty.

You can also rent bicycles in front of the station.

From Nagoya to Gero Onsen, it takes 1 hour and 40 minutes by express train. By car, it takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

There are 9 footbaths within walking distance. (Only “Gassho no Ashiyu”, “Geruma no Ashiyu”, and “Tanogami no Ashiyu” are a little far)

Since there are no towels in each footbath, so be sure to bring your own!

About 700 years ago, a white sagi (heron) swooped down to inform the villagers of the place where the hot spring springs. A simple footbath with a wooden bathtub and a bench with a rain cover.

It is a very popular footbath due to its location right next to the central parking lot.

A footbath built at the entrance of Shirasagi-no-Yu, a public bathhouse with an impressive European-style building. The white statue of Venus is the landmark! Because it can be entered in a circle, it is popular among groups and families.

In front of you is the new spot "GEROGERO Milk Stand" that just opened in 2019, so many people were enjoying the footbath while drinking coffee milk or smoothies.

Gero Onsen Gassho Village is a tourist facility that recreates a village with 10 gassho-zukuri buildings, centering on the Nationally Designated Important Cultural Property of Japan, the Former House of the Oto Family, which was relocated from Shirakawa-go.

There is even a footbath in Gassho Village!

The bathhouse has a cool and refreshing structure with cypress wood for the enclosing wooden walls and sitting boards and creek stones for the hot water outlet, and is large enough to accommodate 16 people at a time. Every year, on the day of the winter solstice, it becomes a "yuzu footbath.
