Powerful Great Buddha and Nio
"Nanmenzan Kaitokuji Temple"
Kaitokuji Temple is one of the many temples that we would like you to visit. You can see the nationally designated important cultural property "Ohama Daibutsu" that shines in gold.
On both sides of the temple gate, the city's only Kongo Rikishi statues (Nio-sama), which are prefecturally designated cultural properties, are enshrined. It's so powerful.
The 277.7cm tall seated statue of Amida Nyorai enshrined in the main hall is a Nationally Designated Important Cultural Property, and is a Buddha that crossed the sea from Ise due to the abolition of Buddhism in the early Meiji period. It is surprising that such a big Buddha has crossed the sea.
