A nostalgic world spreads out.
Rooftop amusement park in Nagoya Matsuzakaya

Such a little-known spot!

Rooftop amusement parks are now said to be in sharp decline nationwide. Many people may not even know that there are amusement facilities on the rooftops of department stores. For such people, rooftop amusement parks are a source of nostalgia. Currently, only two locations in Nagoya City, Mitsukoshi Department Store and Matsuzakaya Department Store, operate rooftop amusement parks.

The rooftop amusement park in Nagoya Matsuzakaya is full of retro rides and games. There are many vehicles such as Anpanman, Thomas, trains and planes.

The medal game is also quite fulfilling. It's inside a tent, so you can enjoy it even when it rains!

Please enjoy the nostalgic rides and retro atmosphere.

"Okazaki City South Park" where you can enjoy both an amusement park and a traffic park

Okazaki City South Park” where you can play, learn, and get close to nature.

The vast park has a lush pond where you can observe wild birds, as well as a traffic square where you can have fun learning about traffic rules, an amusement park, tennis courts, a baseball field and a swimming pool open in the summer, so you can enjoy a variety of ways to spend your time at the park. This is a park with no entrance fee and free parking.

In the amusement park area, in addition to the classic "Merry-go-round", "Ferris wheel", "Riscopter", and "Safari pets", rides that parents and children can enjoy together are reasonably priced from 60 yen to 100 yen per ride!

Besides, even though it is an amusement park with a long history, all the rides and restrooms are spotless!

At the "Traffic Square" in the park, there are traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, traffic signs, etc. in a miniature city area, and you can learn about traffic rules and manners on go-karts and bicycles.

Also, bicycles and tricycles can be rented for free, making it the perfect place to practice! It is a popular spot for parents and children not only as a playground but also as a place for traffic safety education.

"Nagoya Sakae Mitsukoshi" with Japan's Oldest Rooftop Ferris Wheel

"Nagoya Mitsukoshi Sakae" in Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya has Japan's oldest rooftop Ferris wheel. Since its appearance in 1956, it has entertained many children. The oldest Ferris wheel is currently not in operation, so it can only be viewed.

There are only two existing department stores with a Ferris wheel: Tokyu Plaza Kamata in Tokyo and Sakae Mitsukoshi in Nagoya.

What's this? There is a statue of a mysterious kangaroo parent and child.

Upon research, it seems that it used to be the symbol of Mitsukoshi in the past. The symbol of Mitsukoshi is a lion, but in the past, a statue of a kangaroo was placed there, and it was a meeting spot.

Although it is small, there is also a slightly retro game corner.
Rooftop amusement parks themselves are becoming rare nationwide, and even in Nagoya, there are only two stores, "Nagoya Sakae Mitsukoshi" and "Matsuzakaya Nagoya".

Please visit the rooftop amusement park beside shopping!
