Let's go!

Landmark of Osu "Osu Kannon"

Osu

First of all, you can't miss "Osu Kannon" in Osu. Actually, the official name is "Kitanosan Shinpukuji Hoshoin", but it has been called "Osu Kannon" since ancient times. Along with Asakusa Kannon and Tsu Kannon, it is one of Japan's three major Kannon temples.

Osu Kannon also houses Japan's oldest manuscript of the Kojiki, which is a national treasure, Masakadoki, which is designated as an important national cultural property, and the Osu Bunko, one of the Three Scripture Collections.

Osu Kannon

Osu Kannon has a long history, and it is said that it began in 1324 when Emperor Godaigo founded Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Osu-go, Owari-Nagaokasho (now Osu, Kuwabara-cho, Toba City, Gifu Prefecture).

After that, after Ieyasu Tokugawa established the shogunate, along with the construction of Nagoya Castle, "Kiyosugoe" was carried out, moving the entire town from Kiyosu to the current Nagoya. At that time, Osu Kannon was also moved to this area, and along with the birth of Nagoya, "Osu" also developed.

It is said that the main benefits are warding off evil, family safety, physical health, and prosperous business. When visiting Osu, be sure to visit and take a walk.
